Recovery and replacements

Act while two Vault approval methods are still available. The correct path depends on what you lost.

Keep this private

Never share a recovery phrase, private key, or passkey prompt. Cedar support will never ask for them.

Recover a lost passkey

This works only after Vault setup and Pocket protection are complete.

1. On the current approval iPhone, open Cedar Wallet while signed out and choose Lost passkey?
2. Select the correct Vault if Cedar finds more than one.
3. Enter the current 12-word recovery phrase.
4. Create or choose the replacement passkey.
5. Review and submit the Vault recovery action.
6. Resume the Pocket recovery after Cedar’s safety delay, then finish when the app says it is ready.

Recovery may include several network-confirmed stages. Leave submitted work in place and use Resume recovery rather than starting again.

Replace a method that still works

Use Security while the current method is still available.

Passkey: Open Security → Passkeys → Change. Create the replacement, then complete Cedar’s Pocket and Vault reviews. Keep the old passkey until the new one is current everywhere.

Approval phone: Install Cedar on the new iPhone, sign in, then open Security → Phone approval and make this the approval phone. Finish with the current phone or recovery phrase. Do not erase the old phone until Cedar shows the new one as current on every required network.

Recovery phrase: On the approval iPhone, open Security → Recovery phrase → Change. Write the new 12 words down before reviewing the change. Keep the old copy until Activity shows completion; then destroy it securely.

During any recovery

• Check the wallet, method being replaced, and every network before approving.
• Enter recovery words only inside Cedar Wallet during a flow you started.
• Never send recovery words, private keys, passkeys, or private screenshots to support.
• Resume prepared or submitted work from Security or Activity instead of creating a second replacement.
