Vault
Vault is Cedar’s optional wallet for balances and changes that should not depend on one approval method. It has three approval methods and requires any two:
- your passkey
- phone approval on your iPhone
- your 12-word recovery phrase
Regular Vault activity uses your passkey and phone approval. Keep the recovery phrase offline for recovery and supported backup paths.
What Vault does
Section titled “What Vault does”- Holds balances separately from everyday Pocket activity.
- Sends tokens and approves supported crypto-app transactions.
- Creates token-specific spending limits for Pocket.
- Replaces a passkey, approval phone, or recovery phrase when two methods remain.
- Protects Pocket with a delayed recovery path.
Set up Vault
Section titled “Set up Vault”You need an active Pocket, Cedar Wallet for iOS, your passkey, and a private offline place for the recovery phrase.
- Open Vault in Cedar Wallet for iOS and choose Set up Vault.
- Register this iPhone for phone approval.
- Write the 12-word recovery phrase down in order and store it offline.
- Review Create Vault, then complete the passkey and phone approvals.
- Finish Pocket protection when Cedar asks.
Setup is complete only after Vault and Pocket protection are ready on every required network. If you leave, return to Vault or Activity and resume the existing work. Cedar does not need you to repeat finished networks.
Use Vault
Section titled “Use Vault”Vault sends begin like Pocket sends: choose a token, recipient, amount, and fee, then review every detail. Complete the separate passkey and phone-approval rows before submitting. If you start supported Vault work on the web or in the extension, Cedar hands the same request to your approval phone.
Each ready network can be used while another network finishes setup. Cedar keeps protected actions blocked only where Vault or Pocket protection is not ready.
Store the recovery phrase safely
Section titled “Store the recovery phrase safely”The recovery phrase is one Vault approval method, not a master key. It cannot control Vault or recover a passkey by itself. Store it separately from the approval phone and enter it only in a recovery or replacement flow you started.
If one method is lost, use Recovery and replacements before losing another. If two methods are unavailable, Cedar’s 2-of-3 recovery cannot continue.
